Dublin has been a centry of cultural activities for centuries.
Jonathan Swift, author of Gullivers Travels and numerous other works was Dean of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin in the late 17th and early 18th Century. Ther followed numerous other famous writers including Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, Bram Stoker, James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, the poet W.B. Yeats, Brendan Behan, playwrights J.M. Synge and Sean O'Casey and many others. Dubln is home to many current writers including Roddy Doyle and Maeve Binchy.
